Out of all the things I’ve written, this is probably the weirdest I’ll ever get. Like “A Brief History of the Cloverville Sinkhole,” its purpose is to write about an absurd situation as though it were a real historical event. Unlike my most recent story, this one gets significantly more absurd. It was born when I challenged myself to write a piece of short fiction based on three randomly generated nouns. The nouns I received were “failure,” “bicycle” and “clown.” Now, when you get those three words in that order, there’s really just one right answer as to what kind of story you can tell with them.
